Pending death penalty cases have declined dramatically over the last ten years. There are 13 pending cases in Jan. 2024.
New death sentences in Missouri are few and far between. There has been one unanimous jury decision resulting in a death sentence in 10 years. The last person sentenced to death is Darren Emery out of St. Charles County.
